The Signs of the Times

Of course there are many signs of the end of the world that was not only covered by the major and minor prophets, in many books of the Psalms, but most importantly, the most easy signs to comprehend are the ones spoken by the son of God, Jesus Christ in the books of the apostles. The most important and straight to the point is in the book of.
(Matthew 24:4-14)
"Look out that nobody misleads you; for many will come on the basis of my name , saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. you are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet. "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All thes things are the beginning of pangs of distress. "Then people will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and mislead many and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."

(Joel 2: 1-11)
"Blow a horn in Zion. O men, and shout a war cry in my holy mountian. Let all the inhabitants of the land get agitated, for the day of Jehovah is coming, for it is near! It is a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick gloom, like light of dawn spread out upon the mountains. "There is a people numerous and mighty. One like it has not been made to exist from the indefinite past, and after it there will be none again to the years of generation after generation. Ahead of it a fire has devoured, and behind it a flame consumes. Like the garden of Eden the land is ahead of it, but behind it is a desolate wilderness, and there has also proved to be nothing thereof escaping. "It's appearance is like the appearance of horses, and like steeds is the way they keep running. As with the sound of chariots on the tops of the mountains they keep skipping about, as with the sound of a flaming fire that is devouring stubble. It is like a mighty people, drawn up in battle order. Because of it people will be in severe pains. As for all faces, they will certainaly collect a glow of excitement. "Like powerful men they run. Like men of war they go up a wall. And they go each one in his own ways, and they do not alter their paths. And one another they do not shove. As an able bodied man in his course, they keep going: and should some fall even among the missles, the others do not break off course. "Into the city they rush. On the wall they run. On the houses they go up. Through the windows they go in like the theif. Before it the land has become agitated, the heavens have rocked. Sun and Moon themselves have become dark, and the very stars have withdrawn their brightness. And Jehovah himself will certainaly give forth his voice before his military force, for his camp is very numerous. for he who is carrying out his word is mighty; for the day of Jehovah is great and very fear inspiring, and who can hold up under it?"

Shortly before Jesus' death his apostles asked him,"What will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?" As you can see in the scriptures to the left, those were his answeres to them. There were distinct differences between this question and the requests for a sign that the religious leaders had made. While right there, able to see him and his works, those leaders would not accept him as Messiah and King-Designate.(John 19:15) Once they even asked for a sign,"To tempt him,"(Luke 11:16) Some may have just been caught up in the curiosity about Jesus' signs, as was king Herod. (Luke 23:8) Quite the opposite with his desciples who asked about the sign of Christs' presence already accepting him as Messiah and King. (Matthew 16:16) But Jesus made a very important statement to them that the kingdom was "not coming with striking observableness" (Luke 17:20) Obviously the disciples didn't want to apperar as the jewish religious leaders--- blind to Jesus' presence they asked not for a miraculous sign to be performed right there, but what the future identifying signs would be.

In response Jesus described a composite "sign" one made up of many evidences, including wars, earthquakes, famine, pestilences, persecution of Christians, and a world wide preaching of the kingdom. Obviously you can see the things happening in the world today and the following scripture is plain and simple.

(Matthew 24: 32,33)
"Now learn from the fig tree as an illustration this point: Just as soon as it's young branch grows tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. Likewise also you, when you see all these things, know that He is near at the doors."

The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple was under consideration when the desciples asked Jesus for the "sign" (Luke 21:5-7) and his reply gave prophecies that applied to Jerusalem and Judea , which were fufilled during their lifetime. (Luke 21:20; Matthew 24:15) But his answer dealt with the establishment of the Kingdom of God and its effects on all mankind.---(Luke 21:31, 35)

We have to remember that the Sun, Light, Brightness all refer to spiritual brightness or ,"Being in the Light." Where the evil ones are refered to as being, "Sons of Darkness." Or spiritually blind, dark, or blackness. So when the Sun does not give it's brightness or the Moon not giving it's light. Thoes are the two greatest luminaries in our sky, so if if they do not shine their light it can be symbolic of the majority of mankind being in spiritual darkness, wicked, or godless persons. (2 Timothy 3:1-7) This can set the stage much better when we take a look at the book of JOEL in the column to the left and many other scriptures. Also keep in mind that fire is symbolic of judgement. Things on fire are being judged, things that have been burned have been judged already, and things that are going to burn are things that are going to be judged in the future. The book of Revelation talks about a massive earthquake or a worldwide earthquake, but the word quaking has been used in the book of Daniel and Jeremiah to describe people being in fear of the true God Jehovah. (Daniel 6:25,26) (Jeremiah 15: 3,4) So the word earthquake could mean worldwide fear of the true God Jehovah in the final part of the days.

First we will look at scripture in the book of JOEL which describes the end and Jehovah's military force and after we will look at scripture from the book of EZEKIEL that fits with it but describes Satan's military force that moves on God's people just before the end and what will take place just after the end or death of all ungodly men and beings. Also keep in mind that Israel translated means God's people, not the current nation of Israel in the middle east. Also keep in mind that mountains are symbolic of governments, nations, or kingdoms. Read the scriptures to the left.
